Julius Ceasar remembered
July 12th-- was the birthday of Julius Caesar, born in Rome around 100 B.C., who became one of Europe's greatest statesmen and military commanders. Speaking about patriotism Julius Caesar said, "Beware the leader who bangs the drum of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor. For patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind."
