Louisiana delegation visits Almere, Province of Flevoland in the Netherlands
Since the horrible Katrina disaster, causing a regrettable loss of lives, and putting back the economy of Louisiana for decades, representatives from the state, which brought the world Louis Armstrong, are roaming the world to seek economic investments. On this quest for support in getting their economy going again, a Louisiana delegation visited Almere, Province of Flevoland, this Thursday.
Almere is considered one of the Netherlands most avant-garde cities in this relatively new Dutch Province. The Province of Flevoland was created only 30 years ago on land reclaimed from the ocean. Today Almere has about 178.000 inhabitants and is growing steadily. While touring the Province, the delegation also visited its internationally acclaimed Geomatics Business Park, which includes a variety of companies involved in climate research, water management, port development and related disciplines.
As a result of the visit numerous contacts were made to develop a long term economic relationship between Louisiana and Flevoland. Robert Fudicar, the leader of the Louisiana delegation noted," Like Louisiana, the Province of Flevoland knows what it means to struggle with the forces of Nature. Everything we saw here, and how they have resolved these issues, is totally amazing."
