France, The Netherlands and Denmark Uncertain about Start of EU Talks with Macedonia
Brussels. France, the Netherlands and Denmark are protracting an agreement on granting Macedonia an EU status, Makfax reported citing Reuters. At the beginning of next week the British EU Presidency will table the issue and it will be decided whether it will be put on the agenda at the coming EU summit, sources of Reuters in Brussels said. Last month the European Commission recommended that Macedonia should be granted EU status. However, it did not set a date for start of talks, Makfax comments. Great Britain put forward some preliminary proposals based on the EC’s report. However, France, the Netherlands and Denmark still hesitate whether to back up the decision during the summit on December 15th.
