The European Union (EU) is most likely to not consider its enlargement policies at the December 15-16 summit.
After France and the Netherlands refused to approve the EU Constitution, officials in Brussels still have not managed to break the deadlock over budget plans.
Recent speculation indicates that EU officials will not handle the enlargement issue at the summit in December. Some diplomats claimed that officials of EU member countries made clear that they would not talk about the enlargement policies during the summit. Discussions; however, are still on-going, diplomatic sources emphasized. No new developments have been sufficient enough to hold formal discussions about Turkey specifically, and about enlargement in general, British diplomats told Zaman Wednesday."
