"EU strong enough to overcome setbacks, says German envoy
Kota Kinabalu: The rest of the world need to look at the historical perspective of Europe in order to understand there is no retreat in the full realisation of the European Union, said Herbert Jess, German Ambassador to Malaysia.
Jess conceded all the current setbacks highlighted by the media even make Europeans 'wallow in self doubt and insecurity.'
The fact is the reports often obscure the solid institutional strides already achieved in the back ground, Jess said Wednesday in a paper entitled 'The Present State of the European Union - Consolidation or Overstretch?' which he presented at the School of Business and Economics, University of Malaysia Sabah."
