Germany hopes talks with Iran to resume
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Monday that he hopes talks with Iran would resume. "I hope the signals that have become visible from the Teheran leadership that they want to resume the negotiation process will prove reliable," Steinmeier told reporters after meeting visiting Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivajlo Kalfin. Steinmeier reaffirmed that the decision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to report the issue to the UN Security Council did not mean the end of diplomacy. On Saturday, the 35-member board of governors of the IAEA had voted to report the Iran nuclear issue to the Security Council with three votes against and five abstentions. Then Iran announces the resumption of industrial-scale uranium enrichment.
