Mili pratele, dear friends, chers amis, cari amici, liebe Freunde, dorogie druzia, drodze prjiacele, queridos amigos,
We are gathered here to discuss a crucial and for most of us, today, somewhat painful subject, namely the future of Europe.
I, myself, deplore the fact that what once was a common project that made us dream and gave us confidence in a peaceful and prosper future, has now become a topic that is often avoided in national politics ; and that serious plans or ideas to reform the EU, as it is now, are often pushed aside."
