EIB to loan Turkey up to 2.7 bln euros in 2009 - by Birsen Altayli
The European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Union's lending arm, plans to loan Turkey 2.5 billion to 2.7 billion euros ($3.56 billion) in 2009, its Turkey representative, Alain Terraillon, said on Monday. The EIB on Monday signed a 250 million euro loan deal with Isbank, Turkey's biggest listed bank. Istanbul-based Eurobank Tekfen said last week it was borrowing 110 million euros from the EIB. Both of those loans are aimed at boosting Turkish bank lending to small and medium-sized businesses.
