"US makes new air data demands on EU
New US demands for transfers of European air passenger data to American security agencies will be discussed by Europe’s justice ministers on Thursday. US homeland security chief Michael Chertoff tabled unexpected new proposals to EU officials on Saturday prompting a “temporary breakdown” in talks.
The move triggered a series of crisis transatlantic telephone calls between the Finnish EU presidency, European justice commissioner Franco Frattini and Chertoff on Sunday."
