In an interview for television channel TVP 1, President Bronisław Komorowski said that Poland should be able to fulfill the euro zone's convergence criteria by 2015. He added that the government should concentrate on fulfilling the criteria instead of discussing whether or not Poland should adopt the euro.
Mr Komorowski thinks that adopting the common European currency will be a good move in terms of Poland's political position. He added that the euro adoption process should be launched after parliamentary elections in 2015.
The Polish president said that Poland shouldn't veto the EU budget for 2014-2020. “We want to receive as much money as we can, but we must be realistic,” he said adding that he doesn't plan on taking part in further negotiations on this topic. “I did what was in my power, and I hope that it will help reach compromise.”
